II. Intinerary
Day 1: Arrive Hanoi(-/-/D)

then transfer to hotel for check in. This afternoon, get fitted to your
bike and you may have time for a short test-ride through Hanoi. Before
dinner there will be a full trip briefing.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi (B/L/D)
For early risers, head to Hoan Kiem Lake to see the local Vietnamese
practice their morning Tai Chi and then enjoy a local breakfast of Pho
Bo (beef noodle soup) in the town. Or, return to the hotel for a
continental breakfast. The morning ride features a cycle through the
outskirts of Hanoi. Running alongside the Red River, you pedal on a dike
path, a fascinating introduction into life outside the big capital.
Return to the hotel for an afternoon at your leisure. After an early
dinner, transfer to the train station for the overnight ride to Hue.
Overnight on board the train.
(Cycling Distance: 35 km)
Day 3: Hue (B/L/-)
Early this morning, arrive in Hue, Vietnam's cultural capital. Today’s
cycling journey takes you into town and across the Perfume River to
Hue's Imperial Citadel, where you can explore this sprawling complex,
rich with history, on foot. Cycle out to the countryside along dirt
tracks to the Mausoleums of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Ride past relics and
ruins until you reach the end of your journey at the beautiful Thien Mu
Pagoda situated on the banks of the Perfume River.
Overnight in Hue.
(Cycling Distance: 45 km)
Day 4: Hue - Hoi An (B/L/-)
Today isa classic day of cycling. Starting just outside of Hue you will
begin riding along a picturesque, very narrow peninsular road from
Thuan An beach to Vinh Loc. You will then hop on a local ferry to cross
the Perfume River estuary before joining the legendary Highway 1 at the
base of today's 3 climbs! Reward your hard work with a swim at Lang Co
Beach and re-fuel with lunch as there is one more hill of the day - Hai
Van Pass. Challenging, yet manageable, this ride is full of breathtaking
views. After the climbs well earned decents, relax as you transfer by
van the rest of the way to Hoi An, a delightful old trading town and
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unwind over dinner and drinks or perhaps a
traditional massage for sore muscles!
Overnight in Hoi An.
(Cycling Distance: 100 km)
Day 5: Hoi An - My Son - Hoi An (B/L/-)
Set out for a challenging ride from the outskirts of Hoi An on a quiet
back road to the famous Cham Towers of My Son. My Son was an imperial
city during the Cham dynasty, between the 4th and 12th centuries, and
more than 70 towers and temples remain rising majestically from the rice
paddies. The ride is through a remote area where very few tourists
venture, and surrounded by stunning views. You will arrive tired but
triumphant at these most wonderful towers and enjoy a picnic lunch
before transferring back to Hoi An for dinner.
Overnight in Hoi An.
(Cycling Distance: 60 km)
Day 6: Hoi An - Danang - Nha Trang (B/L/-)
After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to the airport for the morning
flight to Nha Trang where 10km of white sandy beach awaits! Cycle around
Nha Trang before having time for a sunset stroll along the beach or a
massage in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Nha Trang.
(Cycling Distance: 30 km)
Day 7: Nha Trang - Dalat (B/L/D)
This morning, transfer past the busy traffic of Highway 1 to the Po
Klong Garai Cham towers. Start riding from here along 40 kms of flat
road, after which it is up, up, up, all the way! The road is quiet and
shady for the most part as you pedal steadily upwards, past the roar of
crickets and fluttering butterflies. The ascent exceeds 1000 meters, but
it is possible to conquer all the climbs with a steady pace,
determination and good use of gears! As you near Dalat, the journey is
rewarded by cooler and lush green fields and hills fill your vision.
Overnight in Dalat.
(Cycling Distance: 100 km)
Day 8: Dalat- Phan Thiet (B/L/-)
Ride along stunning mountain road back down to the coast. It’s a fast
ride in parts with plenty of downhill, though there are some challenging
short climbs as this is rolling terrain with lots of small hills!
Time permitting, cycle all the way or transfer the last leg along a flat
plain to Phan Thiet town.
Overnight in one of the best resorts along the beach front in Mui Ne.
(Cycling Distance: 90 km)
Day 9: Phan Thiet – Ho Chi Minh City (B/L/D)
Depart after breakfast straight from the hotel. Ride a pleasant coastal
road to Khe Ga lighthouse then load up for the 3 hour drive to Ho Chi
Minh City. Today’s ride is in stark contrast to previous cycling, with
sand dunes and deserts cape, the distinguishing feature of this day.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City
(Cycling Distance: 50 km)
Day 10: Depart Ho Chi Minh City (B/-/-)
